The mission of the Rhode Island Children's Policy Coalition is to support and promote the well-being of children and families in Rhode Island.
Goals & Activities
The CPC promotes economic and social policies that foster the well-being of children and families. CPC will develop policy and planning documents to use in improving the health and well-being of children and families. CPC will also track policy and legislative initiatives and, as appropriate, support or oppose the initiatives that have an impact on Rhode Island's children and families.
Other goals and activities:
- To advocate for a comprehensive and coordinated system of care, with the resources necessary for the healthy development of children and families. CPC, through the combined resources of its membership, shall work in concert with other groups and organizations to develop and/or promote public policy, funding initiatives and resources, special studies, public information and other actions, as appropriate, to address the needs of children and families.
- To foster communication and coordination among public and private agencies who serve children and families. CPC will actively seek representation in state and local forums (commissions, committees, task forces, etc.) regarding policy planning and program development related to children and families. We will also monitor state and local policy and planning documents and other relevant data to ensure consistency and coordination across state agencies.
- To increase public awareness about policies, laws, and legislative initiatives that affect children and families. Members of CPC will actively and regularly share information on the condition of children and families, the special needs of children and families, and the availability of community resources with planners, policy makers, the media, and the general public to support informed decision-making.
- To improve advocacy efforts through research and data analysis. CPC will compile or will delegate the compilation of demographic, financial, clinical, or other relevant data to provide the necessary research information that will enable CPC to meet its goals and objectives.
